A Statement from Make the Road Action

Make the Road Action has been organizing and building power for immigrant and working-class communities of color for nearly a decade, and has consistently filed 990s to disclose our spending on our activities. We’ve always operated within the limits placed on 501c4 groups.

Despite the fact that we have consistently filed our disclosures, currently the IRS website lists our status as “revoked.” We recently learned of this issue ourselves and have submitted an application to the IRS to resolve the problem. That application is pending.

As Alexander Rabb, an attorney representing the organization, said, “This is simply an administrative error. Make the Road Action has been filing disclosures consistently, and only recently learned of the revocation. They have already submitted their application for reinstatement.”

This administrative error will be cleared up soon and will not affect our ability to continue our work and maintain our impact in New York and around the country going forward.
